Arrondissement of Thionville-Ouest
The Arrondissement Thionville-Ouest was an administrative unit of the Moselle department in the French region of Lorraine . The main town (seat of the sub-prefecture ) was Thionville (Diedenhofen), which was outside the arrondissement. It consisted of 6 cantons and 30 municipalities. The area was 255 square kilometers, the population (2011) 121,156, the population density 475 inhabitants per square kilometer.
On January 1, 2015, it was merged with the Arrondissement Thionville-Est to form the new Arrondissement Thionville .

history
The Arrondissement Thionville-Ouest emerged in 1919 from the Diedenhofen-West district . Since 1922 it has been co-administered by the sub-prefect of Thionville-Est .
