Artūras Katulis (born August 5, 1981 in Elektrėnai , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Energija Elektrėnai in the Belarusian Wysschaya League , the second highest division in the country, since 2015 .

Career

Artūras Katulis began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with SC Energija , for which he was active from 1997 to 2001 in the East European Hockey League and the Lithuanian Ice Hockey League and with which he was Lithuanian champion for the first time in the 2000/01 season . Then the defender played for a year for Jantar Seversk in the Vysschaja Liga , the second highest Russian division, before he played for HK Nyoman Hrodna in both the East European Hockey League and the Belarusian Extraliga for two years . From 2004 to 2006 the Lithuanian was under contract with the Russian second division clubs Neftjanik Leninogorsk and Kristall Saratow . He then moved to SønderjyskE Ishockey in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen , in which he reached third place with his team.

After the right -handed shooter spent the 2007/08 season at SaiPa Lappeenranta in the Finnish SM-liiga , he was obliged by Disel Pensa from the Wysschaja Liga, for which he scored twelve points in 50 games in the 2008/09 season , including five goals . The following season he moved within the Wysschaja League to Neftjanik Almetjewsk . In the 2010/11 season, the Lithuanian was under contract with HK Liepājas Metalurgs . With this he took part for most of the season in the Belarusian extra league, but also came to three appearances in the IIHF Continental Cup at European level and won the Latvian championship title with the second team of Liepājas Metalurgs in 2011 . For the 2011/12 season he moved to HK Berkut Kiev from the professional hockey league . In 2013 he returned to his home club in Elektrėnai after twelve, with whom he now played in the Belarusian Wysschaja Liga , the country's second-highest division. But at the beginning of 2014 he left his hometown and has played for Juodupės Juodupė in the Lithuanian league ever since .

International

For Lithuania , Katulis took part in the junior division at the U18-C European Championships in 1997 and 1998 and the European Division I of the U18 World Championship in 1999 as well as at the U20-C World Championships in 1999 and 2000 and after the changeover to the current division system of the U20 World Championship of Division II 2001 .

In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division II in 2002 and 2004 and in the World Championships in Division I in 2001 , 2003 , 2005 , 2006 , when he was the top scorer among the defensive players and also had the best plus / minus balance of the tournament , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 when was top scorer among defenders, 2010 and 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 .

He also competed for Lithuania in the qualifying tournaments for the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 , in Sochi in 2014 and in Pyeongchang in 2018 .
