Bénaix ( Occitan Benais ) is a place and a municipality with 147 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in France . It is located in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality is part of the Pamiers arrondissement and the Pays d'Olmes canton (until 2015: Lavelanet canton ). The inhabitants are called Bénaixois .

Bénaix is located at the foot of the French Pyrenees , about 48 kilometers southwest of Carcassonne . Bénaix is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lavelanet in the north, Saint-Jean-d'Aigues-Vives in the north and northeast, L'Aiguillon in the northeast, Fougax-et-Barrineuf in the east and southeast, Montségur in the south, Montferrier in the west and Villeneuve- d'Olmes to the west and northwest.
