Tabre ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune with 368 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitania region . It belongs to the Pamiers arrondissement and the Pays d'Olmes community association founded in 1995 . The inhabitants are called Tabréens .

The municipality of Tabre is 22 kilometers east of Foix and about 55 kilometers north of the Pyrenees ridge . The small rivers in the 2.83 km² municipal area drain north to the Hers-Vif , a tributary of the Ariège . In the west and north of the municipality the wooded mountain ranges of Les Traucasses and Sarrats de Tabre rise with the 643 m high La Serre du Tut as the highest point. Tabre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Limbrassac in the north, Aigues-Vives in the northeast, Laroque-d'Olmes in the southeast, Esclagne in the south and Pradettes in the west.

Economy and Infrastructure

In the east of the municipality Tabre has a share in an inter-municipality industrial park. Smaller craft and service companies are based in Tabre (real estate agencies, retailers, financial service providers, insurance companies and a chemical laboratory) as well as two farms.

Tabre is on the D625 from Mirepoix to Lavelanet . In Foix , 22 kilometers away, there is a connection to the motorway-like route nationale 20 ( E 9 ) from Pamiers to Puigcerdà in Catalonia. The Foix train station is on the Portet-Saint-Simon- Puigcerdà railway line .
