Attractions

  • The single-nave Gothic parish church of Saint-Sylvain ( Église de Queille ) dates back to the 13th century and has been registered as a Monument historique since 1994 . As with many churches in the south of France, the unadorned entrance portal is on the south wall of the church. In contrast to the apse , which has a polygonal break on the outside , the nave , which is only about five meters wide, is not arched, but is spanned by a wooden ceiling.
  • Only about 100 meters from the church are the impressive - privately owned - ruins of the castle ( Château de Queille ), a building from the 12th century, which has been rebuilt and expanded several times. The Château de Queille has also been classified as a Monument historique since 1944 . The mighty four-storey residential tower ( donjon ) has a rectangular floor plan; only the outer walls are largely preserved.

economy

The place and its quite wooded surroundings are largely agricultural. Tourism has also played a certain role in the municipality's economic life since the 1970s.
