Unzent is a French commune with 117 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitania region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Pamiers and the Portes d'Ariège Pyrénées community association founded in 2016 . The inhabitants are called Unzentois .
geography
The municipality of Unzent is located in a poorly forested hill country, about 55 kilometers south-southeast of Toulouse and about 60 kilometers north of the main ridge of the Pyrenees . Pamiers , the capital of the Arrondissemenrs, is 18 kilometers southwest of Unzent. The western border of the municipality marks the Aure , a left tributary of the Ariège . The 7.9 km² community area includes the village of Unzent, the districts and hamlets of Soubiran, La Serre, Macara, Mounies (partially), Merciers, Le Moulin, Brune, Bouscanié, Labeille, Taux, Le Cocut, Bayrat, Abals, Jean Auriol , Bounals, Tartejoque, Olivier Neuf, Touchis, Les Fages, La Fajolle, L'Auriol, Savignol, Les Nauzes, Les Fagettes, Le Fauriou, Fériol, Couderc, Cahuzac, Marge Cabirol, Pujol, La Capelle and Rebequet . Unzent is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saverdun in the north, Bonnac in the east, Saint-Amans in the southeast, Escosse in the south, Lescousse in the southwest and Saint-Martin-d'Oydes in the west.
