Baiern is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg . There is no place called Baiern, only the community as a whole is called that. The largest towns in the municipality are Antholing, Berganger, Netterndorf and Piusheim. The municipal administration is in Kulbing. Baiern is a member of the Glonn administrative association .
Surname
The municipality name corresponds to the original spelling of Bavaria or the tribe of the same name, the Baiern or Bajuwaren , but it is a derivative of the Old High German word "Bur" meaning "house". The community name was derived from the hamlet of Jakobsbaiern . Jakobsbaiern bore the name of the patron saint of the place to distinguish it from the many other places called "Baiern" or "Beuern". Other examples of this measure are Ottobeuren or Benediktbeuern .

Geographical location
Baiern is located in the Munich region and forms the southernmost municipality in the Ebersberg district. The place Berganger is located four kilometers east of Glonn , 12 kilometers south of Grafing , 18 kilometers north of Bad Aibling and 16 kilometers from the district town of Ebersberg .
The nearest train station on the Munich – Rosenheim line is in Aßling , ten kilometers away ; to the A 8 (junctions Hofoldinger Forst and Weyarn ) it is 20 kilometers.
There is only the district Baiern.

history
Until the church is planted
The districts of Baiern belonged to the Munich Rent Office and the Swabian Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria and were the seat of a main team. The Weihenstephan Monastery was an important landlord in today's municipality until the secularization of 1803. In 1818, with the parish edict, today's parish was established.
Edgar end
The painter Edgar Ende spent the last years of his life in a former schoolhouse in Netterndorf. There he died on December 27, 1965 and was buried in the Antholing cemetery.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,089 to 1,457 by 368 inhabitants or by 33.8%.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998 there were no employees in the field of agriculture and forestry, 68 in the manufacturing sector and no employees in the field of trade and transport at the place of work. In other economic sectors this figure was 152 people. There were 345 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were nine companies in the manufacturing sector and six in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 61 farms with an agricultural area of 1546 ha. Of this, 466 ha were arable land and 1078 ha were permanent green space.

- Edgar Ende (born February 23, 1901 in Altona ; † December 27, 1965 in Netterndorf), German surrealist painter and father of the writer Michael Ende, lived in the former schoolhouse in Netterndorf for the last years of his life; buried in the cemetery in Antholing.
