Ballmannshof (colloquially: Balm ə shūf ) is a district of the market Lichtenau in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The hamlet is located on a hill directly by the monastery forest, a little to the south of it rises the Ballmannshofer Graben, which flows into the Zandtbach on the left, a right tributary of the Franconian Rezat . The place is a little off the county road AN 12 , which leads to the neighboring places Lichtenau (1.7 km northwest) and Wattenbach (0.9 km southeast).

history

According to the Salbuch of the Deutschordenskommende Nürnberg from the year 1343 the Stadtvogteiamt Eschenbach in Ballmannshof owned 1 yard. This is also the first mention of the place by name. In 1515 the place was mentioned as "Palminshof". The defining word of the place name is the personal name Baldmann, who was probably the founder of this farm. Until the end of the Old Kingdom (1806), the farm belonged to the Eschenbach municipal bailiff.

As part of the municipal edict, Ballmannshof was assigned to the Sauernheim tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Sauernheim, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Ballmannshof was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community Wattenbach . This was incorporated into the municipality of Lichtenau on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
