history

The place was first mentioned in a document in the Würzburger Lehenbuch from 1303 as "Zante" with the meaning of settlement near a tooth-shaped elevation . This elevation is located at the confluence of the Zandtbach and the Fischbach. The two goods, which are mentioned in a deed of donation from 1289, probably belonged to Zandt. Wolframs von Dornberg's widow bequeathed it to Heilsbronn Monastery . In 1374 Hans von Seckendorff donated 15 Mtz “for the sake of his souls  . Korn on his farm at Zandt the monastery. ” Kunigunda von Gredingen donated 30 talents to the monastery to purchase slopes in Zandt. In total, the monastery acquired three properties that were deserted during the Thirty Years War .

In the Salbuch of the Nuremberg nursing office Lichtenau from 1515, 14 subject families are specified for Zandt with the Zandtmühle: 7 subjects were subordinate to the imperial city of Nuremberg, 2 subjects to the Heilsbronn monastery, 3 subjects to the court office in Ansbach , 1 subject to Albrecht Linck to Schwabach and 1 property to the priest in Amberg .

In the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn Vogtamt Merkendorf from 1616, Zandt was given 1 yard, which was subordinate to the Merkendorf administrator's office. The other landlords are not given.

In the Salbuch des Fürstentums Ansbach of 1684, 11 teams are recorded for Zandt: 2 properties were subordinate to the Ansbach court box office, 2 properties to the Ansbach monastery , 2 properties to the Merkendorf administration office, 6 properties to the imperial city of Nuremberg and 1 property to the Eschenbach municipal bailiff . The high court and the village and community rulership was exercised by the Lichtenau nursing office.

In the official description of the Lichtenau nursing office from 1748, there were 13 subject families in Zandt with Mühle, 7 of which belonged to the main team of Saxony.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Zandt and the Zandtmühle. The high court and the village and community rulership was exercised by the Lichtenau nursing office. The landlords were the imperial city of Nuremberg (state alms office: 1 courtyard, 1 three-quarter courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 1 estate, 1 economy; Lichtenau maintenance department: 1 Söldengut ), the Principality of Ansbach (Merkendorf administration office: 1 courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 1 Söldengütlein; court box office Ansbach: 1 Gut), the Ansbach owner von Förster (1 mill) and the parish and beneficiary foundation Eschenbach (1 estate). In addition to the property, there were also communal buildings (shepherd's house, schoolhouse).

As part of the community edict, Zandt was assigned to the tax district of Saxony, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Saxony, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818), Zandt was re-ceded to the newly formed rural community Unterrottmannsdorf . This was incorporated into the market Lichtenau on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
