This year's overall winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, received the maximum number of points from 133 voters (corresponding to 75.6%); only the journalists from Sri Lanka and Tajikistan did not consider it at all. Lionel Messi was placed first 34 times, Neymar twice and once each for Aubameyang, Bonucci, Buffon, Kane, Kanté, Modrić and Sergio Ramos.

Four jurors had the five best placed on their voting slip in exactly the above order; these were the journalists from Angola , Kosovo , Thailand and Sierra Leone . In a further eight votes, Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Buffon and Modrić found themselves in a different order: Andorra , Costa Rica , England , Greece , Haiti , Japan , Cuba and the Czech Republic , of which Andorra and Cuba were the only Messi - and not Ronaldo - placed first.

The following votes were given from the German-speaking countries:

  • Germany (Karl-Heinz Wild, Kicker Sportmagazin ): Ronaldo - Neymar - Messi - Kroos - Lewandowski
  • Austria (Walter Kowatsch-Schwarz, freelance journalist): Ronaldo - Messi - Buffon - Neymar - Mbappé
  • Switzerland (Christophe Cerf, Radio Télévision Suisse ): Ronaldo - Cavani - Kanté - Modrić - Buffon
  • Luxembourg (Didier Hiegel, wort.lu): Ronaldo - Messi - Ramos - Buffon - Lewandowski
  • Liechtenstein ( Ernst Hasler , Liechtensteiner Vaterland ): Ronaldo - Modrić - Bonucci - Mbappé - Isco
