Bardi Castle

Bardi is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2119 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 51.5 kilometers west-southwest of Parma on the Ceno and borders directly on the province of Piacenza .

history

Bardi goes back to a colony of Hannibal . The name is derived from the Lombards .

The patrician Ubertino Landi from Piacenza acquired the castle of Bardi and the neighboring castle of Compiano in 1257 . The Landi were raised to Marchesi (margraves) by Emperor Charles V in 1551. After the local branch died out in 1682, their property fell to the Farnese , Dukes of Parma.
