The 1972 Asian Women's Basketball Championship (officially 1972 Asian Championship for Women ), the fourth women's Asian basketball championship , took place between November 18 and 26, 1972 in Taipei , Taiwan , where the championship was held for the second time. The winner was the South Korean team , which won the women's Asian championship for the third time undefeated.
In a preliminary round, all teams initially played the participants for the semifinals in a group stage. Each team against the other exactly once, so that each team played four games. There were two points for each win and one point for a defeat. The four teams with the highest points made it to the semi-finals, with the first group playing against the fourth group and the second group against the third group.
