The 1978 Asian Women's Basketball Championship (officially: 1978 Asian Championship for Women ), the seventh women's Asian basketball championship , took place between July 25 and August 5, 1978 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia , for the second time the championship aligned. The winner was the South Korean national basketball team , which won the women's Asian championship for the fifth time. For the first time a delegation from Sri Lanka took part in the tournament.
