The FIBA Asia Championship of Women 1990 (officially in 1990 Asian Championship for Women ), the thirteenth FIBA Asia Championship of Women , took place between 11 and 17 March 1990 in Singapore instead, which hosted the championship for the first time. The winner was the Chinese team , which won the Asian Women's Championship for the third time. For the first time a team from North Korea took part in the tournament.

The tournament was played in two groups (group A and B) of five (group A) and six (group B) teams. The teams of group A played the places one to five, the teams of group B the remaining places. Each team played against the others in their own group exactly once, so that four (Group A) or five (Group B) games were played per team. There was one point for each win and one point for a defeat. The placements were based on the number of points achieved. The team with the most points in Group A became women's basketball Asian champions in 1990.
