The 1981 Asian Basketball Championship (officially: FIBA Asia Championship for Men 1981 ) was the 11th edition of this tournament and took place from November 12, 1981 to November 20, 1981 in Calcutta , India . It was organized by FIBA Asia , the Asian basketball association. 12 teams took part in this tournament. The best team qualified for the 1982 World Basketball Championship .
