The Chinese national basketball team represents the People's Republic of China in men's international basketball games. Since its recognition by FIBA in 1974, it has dominated the Asian Cup and won 16 times in 21 participations.

Until 1974, China was represented by the selection of the Republic of China . Since then, the team of the People's Republic has won 15 gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Cup , so that, apart from the 1998 World Cup, it has always qualified for World Cups and Olympic Games. The sport of basketball in China was made professional by the establishment of the Chinese Basketball Association , from which the NBA players Wang Zhizhi , Hu Weidong , Mengke Bateer , Yao Ming , Yi Jianlian and Sun Yue emerged .
