The Malaysian national basketball team represents Malaysia in men's international basketball matches. The greatest success of the Malaysian national team was the 1986 World Basketball Championship , in which Malaysia was allowed to take part in place of the reigning Asian champions Philippines. There Malaysia finished 24th place out of 24 participating teams. As a regular participant in the Asian Basketball Championships, Malaysia has not yet been able to win a medal at the continental championships. The best placings were two fourth places in 1977 and 1985.
