The Taiwanese national basketball team represents the Republic of China in men's international basketball games. Because of the political conflict with the People's Republic of China , the team officially competes under the name “ Chinese Taipei ”.
history
The national basketball team of Taiwan already participated in the first Olympic basketball tournament at the 1936 Olympic Games . She took 15th place. The best results in international tournaments was fourth place at the 1959 World Cup . It was the second best result of an Asian team at the world championships. Also in the 1950s two second places in the basketball competition of the Asian Games in 1954 and 1958 fell. At the Asian Basketball Championships, Taiwan succeeded in winning two silver medals in 1960 and 1963, two bronze medals at the tournaments in 1973 and 1989. Because of the conflict with China, Taiwan could not take part in five Asian championships in a row (1975-1983).
