The Indian national basketball team represents India in men's international basketball games. One of the greatest successes of the Indian national team is their participation in the 1980 Olympic Games . Due to the boycott of some western countries, including the Federal Republic of Germany and the USA, the field of participants in the basketball competition had to be increased. As a result, India got to participate in the Olympic Games as a representative of Asia. However, India lost all games in the tournament and finished twelfth among twelve participants. The greatest successes in continental competitions include fourth place each in the 1975 Asian Basketball Championship and the 1951 Asian Games basketball competition .
