The 1979 Asian Basketball Championship (officially: FIBA Asia Championship 1979 ) was the 10th edition of this tournament and took place from November 30th to December 12th 1979 in Nagoya , Japan . It was organized by FIBA Asia , the Asian basketball association. The winner qualified for the 1980 Summer Olympics .

Preliminary round
