The FIBA Asia Championship of Women 1974 (officially in 1974 Asian Championship for Women ), the fifth FIBA Asia Championship the ladies , took between 22 to 30 June 1974 in Seoul , South Korea instead, which organized the championship for the second time. The winner was the host , who won the women's Asian Championship for the fourth time, unbeaten. For the first time a team from Iran took part in the tournament.
In the preliminary round, the game was played in two groups (group A and B) with four (group A) and three (group B) teams. Each team played against the others in their group exactly once, so that each team played three (Group A) or two (Group B) games. There were two points for each win and one point for a defeat. The two teams with the highest points in each group advanced to the final round. The other teams played places five to seven separately in their own group.
