Beesel ( listen ^{? / I} ) is a Dutch municipality in the province of Limburg and, according to the CBS, had 13,515 inhabitants on January 31, 2019 . Beesel lies between the Meuse and the German border that runs parallel to it. Due to incorporations, Beesel is the last remaining rural community on the right side of the Meuse between Roermond in the south and Venlo in the north. The neighboring German municipalities are Brüggen and Nettetal .

Districts

The municipality consists of the districts Beesel (2,451 inhabitants, as of January 1, 2018), Offenbeek (4,812 inhabitants) and Reuver (6,179 inhabitants). Offenbeek and Reuver have grown together in the center of the settlement and form the small town of Reuver with around 11,000 inhabitants, located on Rijksweg 73 in Limburg . Beesel is an agrarian village on the banks of the Meuse off the main road. The seat of the municipal administration is in Reuver.
