The Benz 16/35 PS was the successor to the Benz 20/35 PS . In 1912 the 16/35 PS was replaced by the Benz 16/40 PS .
The 16/35 PS was equipped with a four-cylinder in-line engine with 3950 cc capacity, the 35 hp (26 kW) at 1600 min -1 developed. The engine power was passed on to a four-speed gearbox via a leather cone clutch and from there to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft . The top speed was 80 km / h and the fuel consumption was 20 l / 100 km.
The launched even in the publication year of the 16/35 PS successor 16/40 PS possessed an equal motor but 40 hp (29 kW) at 1700 min -1 gave. In 1913, another two-seat sports model whose also equally sized motor 52 hp (38 kW) appeared at 1850 min -1 or even 60 hp (44 kW) at 2600 min -1 reached. This sports model drove at a top speed of 115 km / h.
The vehicles were still equipped with wooden or wire-spoke wheels and leaf-sprung rigid axles. The chassis cost ℳ 12,500.00
