Boussy is a French commune in the department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Boussy is at 443 m , near Rumilly , about 12 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Annecy (as the crow flies). The former farming village extends in the foothills of the Alps on a ledge on the eastern slope of the Chéran , in the hollow of Rumilly, in the Albanais .
The area of the 5.23 km² large municipal area includes a section of the Albanais. The western and southern borders run along the course of the Chéran (left tributary of the Fier ). The Chéran flows from southeast to northwest and enters the wide Rumilly basin at Boussy. In the very south of the municipality, the course of the river is still slightly cut into the surrounding plateaus; to the west of the village, however, begins a wide valley floor filled with alluvial material. From the Chéran, the community area extends north-east onto the adjacent slopes, which are subdivided by the valleys of several side streams. At 567 m , the highest point in Boussy is reached above Mieudry Castle.
In addition to the actual town center, Boussy also includes several hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:
- Marlioz ( 365 m ) on the high terrace on the eastern edge of the Chéran valley
- Vers les Bois ( 460 m ) on the eastern slope of the Chéran valley
- La Villette ( 420 m ) on the eastern slope of the Chéran valley
Neighboring municipalities of Boussy are Sales and Marcellaz-Albanais in the north, Saint-Sylvestre in the east, Marigny-Saint-Marcel in the south and Rumilly in the west.
Attractions
The village church of Saint-Maurice was built in 1884. In the municipality are the Château de Mieudry, the mansions of Lupigny and Marlioz and two old mills on the side streams of the Chéran.

With 505 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Boussy is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. In the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, the number of inhabitants decreased continuously due to strong emigration (in 1876 there were still 466 inhabitants in Boussy). Since the beginning of the 1980s, however, there has been a significant increase in population.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Boussy was a predominantly agricultural village. Today there are various local small businesses. Otherwise the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Annecy area.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Sales to Alby-sur-Chéran . The closest connection to the A41 motorway is around 10 km away.
