In the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, the number of inhabitants decreased continuously due to strong emigration (in 1861 there were still 358 inhabitants in Leschaux). Since the mid-1970s, however, a significant increase in population has been recorded.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Leschaux was predominantly an agricultural village. Today there are some local small businesses. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area, especially in Annecy.

The village is located off the main thoroughfares near the D912 department road, which leads from Sévrier over the Col de Leschaux to Lescheraines . Further road connections exist with La Chapelle-Saint-Maurice, Bellecombe-en-Bauges and, via a tourist road that leads over the Semnoz, with Annecy.
