history

The place was first mentioned in the Würzburger Lehenbuch , which was created between 1303 and 1313, as "Boksbrunn". The place name is derived from a field name of the same name, the defining word of which is the (roe) buck, ie a trough is referred to that was visited by roe buck. The Lords of Heideck exercised the bailiwick over the place at this time. In 1407 it was listed in a document in which the imperial city of Nuremberg gave, among other things, four Boxbrunn goods to the Burkhard Seiler'schen Almosenstiftung.

In the Salbuch of the Nuremberg nursing office in Lichtenau from 1515, 5 subject families are specified for Boxbrunn: 4 subjects were subordinate to the Brandenburg-Ansbach monastery office in Ansbach , 1 property belonged to a Lichtenau citizen. According to the official description of the Lichtenau nursing office from 1748, the place belonged to the main team of Saxony. There were 5 subject families, 1 of which was Nuremberg.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 8 properties and a community shepherd's house in Boxbrunn. The high court was exercised by the Lichtenau nursing office, and the Ansbach monastery held authority over the village and the community . The landlords were the Ansbach Abbey (3 half yards, 2 quarter yards, 2 half estates) and the Nuremberg owner Kreß von Kressenstein (1 half yard).

As part of the municipal edict, Boxbrunn was assigned to the Lichtenau tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Lichtenau , which was founded in 1810 . In 1818, the town submitted an application to form a separate municipality with Weickershof and Stritthof , but this was rejected.
