Bremsdorf ( Brěmjow in Lower Sorbian ) is a district of the municipality Schlaubetal in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg . Brakedorf was an independent municipality until it was merged with two other municipalities on October 26, 2003.

location

Bremsdorf is located in the north of Niederlausitz and in the Schlaubetal Nature Park , about ten kilometers west of Eisenhüttenstadt and 20 kilometers east of the district town of Beeskow . Surrounding towns are to the community Siehdichum belonging districts Schernsdorf the north and Rießen in the Northeast, Fünfeichen the east, Kieselwitz in the south of the city Friedland belonging district Chossewitz in the southwest, the district Dammdorf the community Grunow Dam village in the west and Mixdorf in the northwest.

Hammersee , Treppelsee and Große Treppelsee are located in the area around Bremsdorf , while the Schlaube forms the border between Bremsdorf and Dammendorf. To the north-east of the village is another, unnamed lake, which is fed by the Planfließ flowing through the district in an east-west direction . The Bremsdorfer Mühle residential area is located west of the main town of Bremsdorf . The federal highway 246 runs through the village .

history

The place Bremsdorf was first mentioned in 1370 with the name Broemsdorff . The place name, which comes from Old Sorbian , means place of a man with the name Bron . In 1372 the place was called Bronnesdorff , in 1673 the place was called Bremßdorff . The village was already owned by the Neuzelle monastery when it was first mentioned until 1817 . After that, Bremsdorf was under the administration of the Neuzelle Rent Office . In 1520 a grinding mill , today's Bremsdorfer Mühle , was built near Bremsdorf .

The topographical-statistical overview of the administrative district of Frankfurt ad O. recorded 287 inhabitants in 44 residential buildings in Bremsdorf for the year 1844. The place does not have its own church, the residents of the village visited the village church Fünfeichen for church services . In 1867 there were 341 inhabitants and 43 buildings in the village, the Bremsdorfer Mühle settlement had 19 inhabitants in three buildings.

Before 1815, Bremsdorf belonged to the Gubenische Kreis . As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Lower Lusatia, which previously belonged to the Kingdom of Saxony , came to the Kingdom of Prussia . Thereafter, the historic Gubenische Kreis was renamed the Guben district and part of the Frankfurt administrative district in the province of Brandenburg . Bremsdorf was a place in the district of Siehdichum . On July 1, 1950, the district of Guben was dissolved and the municipality of Bremsdorf came to the district of Frankfurt (Oder) . When the district was newly formed in the GDR on July 25, 1952, Bremsdorf was added to the Eisenhüttenstadt-Land district in the Frankfurt (Oder) district. After the fall of the Wall , the Eisenhüttenstadt-Land district was renamed the Eisenhüttenstadt district . During the district reform on December 6, 1993, the community of Bremsdorf was assigned to the Oder-Spree district and administered there by the Schlaubetal office. On April 24, 2002, the Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg approved the merger of the communities of Bremsdorf, Fünfeichen and Kieselwitz to form the new community of Schlaubetal , which came into effect on October 26, 2003.

  • The Bremsdorfer mill was built in 1520. The current building dates from the 18th century. During the GDR era, the mill was initially used to generate energy; from the mid-1960s, the building became a restaurant for the trade organization . Since 2002 there is a youth hostel of the German Youth Hostel Association in the mill .
