Brindisi (wine)

Brindisi DOC are wines from the southern Italian province of Brindisi in the Apulia region . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1979 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation is permitted within the province of Brindisi in the municipalities of Brindisi and Mesagne .

Different wines are produced and sold under the name Brindisi DOC :

  • Brindisi Rosso and Brindisi Rosato - at least 70% must be made from the Negroamaro grape variety . A maximum of 30% other red grape varieties that are permitted in the "Salento-Arco Ionico" production zone may be added, individually or together.
  • Brindisi Bianco - at least 80% must be made from the Chardonnay and / or Malvasia bianca grapes (individually or together). A maximum of 20% other white grape varieties that are permitted in the “Salento-Arco Ionico” production zone may be added, individually or together.
