Martina Franca DOC
The name Martina Franca DOC or just Martina DOC stands for white wines and sparkling wines ( Spumante ) from the southern Italian municipality of Martina Franca in the province of Taranto ( Valle d'Itria ) in the Apulia region . The wines have had a protected designation of origin ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1969 , the last update of which was published on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
Cultivation is permitted within the province of Taranto in the municipalities of Martina Franca , Crispiano and in Alberobello and in parts of the municipalities of Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni .

The Martina Franca denomination includes the following types of wine:
- Martina Franca: must be at least 50-65% of the grape varieties Verdeca and at least 35-50% Bianco d'Alessano be established. The grape varieties Fiano , Bombino and / or Malvasia bianca may not contain more than 5% in the cuvée .

- Alcohol content: at least 9.5 % by volume , with a remainder of at least 1.5% potential alcohol content
- Acidity : at least 4.5 g / l
- Dry extract: at least 14.0 g / l

The respective winners of the Premio Bacco dei Borbone ( Festival della Valle d'Itria ) receive a selection of 100 Martina Franca DOC wine bottles from the Di Marco winery.
