Martina Franca DOC

The name Martina Franca DOC or just Martina DOC stands for white wines and sparkling wines ( Spumante ) from the southern Italian municipality of Martina Franca in the province of Taranto ( Valle d'Itria ) in the Apulia region . The wines have had a protected designation of origin ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1969 , the last update of which was published on March 7, 2014.

Growing area

Cultivation is permitted within the province of Taranto in the municipalities of Martina Franca , Crispiano and in Alberobello and in parts of the municipalities of Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni .

  • Smell: vinous, delicate, characteristic, pleasant
  • Taste: dry, delicate
  • Alcohol content: at least 11.0  % by volume

Martina Franca Spumante

  • Perlage: fine and persistent
  • Color: yellow with green reflections or more or less straw yellow sometimes with golden reflections
  • Smell: fragrant, complex, characteristic of fermentation, pleasant
  • Taste: fresh, fruity, fine, harmonious, delicately dry to lovely
  • Alcohol content: at least 9.5  % by volume , with a remainder of at least 1.5% potential alcohol content
  • Acidity : at least 4.5 g / l
  • Dry extract: at least 14.0 g / l

The respective winners of the Premio Bacco dei Borbone ( Festival della Valle d'Itria ) receive a selection of 100 Martina Franca DOC wine bottles from the Di Marco winery.
