history

The castle was probably built by the Sigbotons in the 13th century. After the Falkenstein family died out, it had been in the possession of the von Hundt family since it was sold to Georg Hundt from Lauterbach in 1556 , before it burned down in 1784.

The residential tower , which is still inhabited today, is part of the main castle and the foundation walls of the outer castle have been preserved .
