The Cadre 45/2 World Championship in 1928 was the 21st World Championship, which was held in Cadre 45/2 until 1947 and from 1948 in Cadre 47/2. The tournament took place in Amsterdam from May 30th to June 5th, 1928 . It was the first billiards world championship in the Netherlands.
history
The Cadre 45/2 World Championship took place at the same time as the football tournament of the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. As a result, the games were played in the evening, sometimes at night. For the first time, Carl Foerster, a German competed in a world championship after Albert Poensgen who finished second in 1906. Unfortunately Förster could not confirm the performances he played in Germany and was only last. After the USA joined the World Billiards Association UIFAB in 1926, Francis S. Appleby became the first American to play at an amateur world championship. The World Cup, which took place in the trade union building in Amsterdam, was almost perfectly organized, as the players said. The Belgian Théo Monns secured his fourth world title. Appleby played the highest streak of 248 in a match against Jean-Pierre Martenet. The Swiss already led in the 16th recording with 361: 152. Then Abbleby ended the game with a 248 series.
