Cande is a French municipality with 2834 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Canton Segre (2015: Canton candé ) in Arrondissement Segré in the department of Maine-et-Loire and the region Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Candéens .
geography
Candé is about 37 kilometers west-northwest of Angers am Erdre . Candé is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vallons-de-l'Erdre in the north and west, Angrie in the east and north-east and Val d'Erdre-Auxence in the east and south-east.
The former Routes nationales 23bis (today's D923), 163 (today's D963) and 770 (today's D770) lead through the municipality .
history
A hill fort was built as a strategically important place at the beginning of the 11th century. The place is mentioned for the first time as Condatum 1076. The place kept its special importance until the 18th century.
