It belongs to the Arrondissement of Segré and the canton of Tiercé (Brain-sur-Longuenée, Gené and Vern-d'Anjou) and Chalonnes-sur-Loire (La Pouëze).

Erdre-en-Anjou was formed on December 28, 2015 as a Commune nouvelle from the communities of Brain-sur-Longuenée , Gené , La Pouëze and Vern-d'Anjou . The administrative headquarters are in Vern-d'Anjou.

Erdre-en-Anjou is about 23 kilometers northwest of the city center of Angers . Erdre-en-Anjou is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Segré-en-Anjou Bleu in the north and north-west, Le Lion-d'Angers in the east and north-east, Grez-Neuville in the east, Longuenée-en-Anjou and Saint-Clément-de- la-Place in the south-east, Bécon-les-Granits in the south and south-east, Val d'Erdre-Auxence in the south and south-west, Angrie in the west and Chazé-sur-Argos in the north-west.
