The Canon EOS-5D is a digital SLR camera from the Japanese manufacturer Canon , which appeared on the market in September 2005. The production has since been stopped. The manufacturer's target group were mainly professional photographers .

technical features

The camera has a full frame - CMOS sensor with 12.8 megapixels, a 9-point autofocus and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. It is compatible with all lenses with a Canon EF mount and weighs 810 g without lens.

The camera can record sequential shots at up to 3 frames per second on CompactFlash memory cards and also has a buffer memory for up to 60 large JPEG compressed images or 9 images in RAW format. The autofocus has nine measuring fields and six auxiliary fields, which are not displayed in the viewfinder and are only used in servo AF mode for focusing moving objects when the central measuring field is selected and the individual function C.Fn-17 is set to "Extended".

For image control, the camera has exchangeable focusing screens, a 2.5-inch LC screen for follow-up checks, and picture-style image processing. A DIGIC-II processor takes care of the operation of the camera software. RAW and JPEG images can be saved simultaneously. Digital Photo Professional is supplied as software for processing raw camera data . The housing is made of a magnesium alloy.

The camera does not have a built-in flash. Instead, the standard connections for flash units are available, a hot shoe above the viewfinder and an X-sync connection on the left side.

In February 2009 the manufacturer carried out a recall campaign in which the bracket for the mirror was reinforced.
