The Canon EOS 40D is a digital SLR camera from the Japanese manufacturer Canon , which was launched on the market in September 2007. It is no longer produced.

General

The camera has a CMOS sensor in APS-C format with 10.1 megapixels (3,888 × 2,592 pixels). The images can be saved either in the lossy JPEG format or in the manufacturer's own RAW format CR2 with 14 bits per color channel . The camera can save the recordings in both JPG and RAW format at the same time. It has an image sequence of 6.5 images per second and is equipped on the back with a 7.62 cm (3 inch) display with around 230,000 subpixels. It is not only used for menu and photo display, but can also display the viewfinder real-time image ( live view ). The housing is made of a magnesium - alloy .

GPS connection

A GPS device can be connected to the camera via the WFT-E3 data transmitter in order to record the exact location of each photo. During geo-imaging , the coordinates are saved in the Exif data of the image.
