Christian Würtz (born May 31, 1971 in Karlsruhe ) is a German clergyman, canon lawyer and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .

Life

Christian Würtz was born in Karlsruhe and grew up there. After graduating from high school and doing community service, he studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the University of Karlsruhe (TH) from 1991 to 1996 and worked as a trainee lawyer for two years . He was with a dissertation on 2002 Johann Nicolaus Friedrich Brauer for doctor of law doctorate.

From 1998 to 2004 he studied theology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg . On 14 May 2006 he received the Freiburg Cathedral , the ordination . In 2008, Würtz returned to the University of Freiburg as a research assistant in the Department of Medieval and Modern Church History , especially the History of Piety and Regional Church History. From 2010 to 2018 he was first parish administrator and later pastor of the pastoral care unit Vorderes Kinzigtal . As the episcopal motto, Würtz chose the verse “Adveniat regnum tuum” ( Let your kingdom come) from the Our Father's prayer ( Mt 6.10  EU ) from the Gospel of Matthew . With his episcopal ordination he is the youngest bishop of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany.

Archbishop Burger made him responsible for the formation of priests in the archbishopric and also appointed him episcopal vicar for universities.
