Jesús María Pereda Ruiz de Temiño (born June 15, 1938 in Medina de Pomar , Burgos , † September 27, 2011 in Barcelona ), also known as Chus Pereda or Txus Pereda , was a Spanish football player and coach .

Career

Pereda's first professional station was SD Indautxu , a club from the Basque city of Bilbao . He was there from 1956 to 1958. Not yet 20 years old, the midfielder moved to Real Madrid in early 1958 , where he immediately won the European Cup in 1957/58 . After only two appearances in the league and one in the Copa del Generalísimo final, he moved to Real Valladolid for the 1958/59 season . With the club he was champion of the second Spanish division . Between 1959 and 1961 he was active for FC Sevilla , after which he joined FC Barcelona . At Barça he played in the central playmaker position until 1969 and won the Spanish championship, the trade fair cup and twice the Copa del Generalísimo with the team . He then ended his career at CE Sabadell and RCD Mallorca .

He made his debut for the Spanish national team on May 15, 1960 in a 3-0 win over England . In 1964 he successfully participated with Spain in the 1964 European Championship in his own country, where he was the top scorer of the tournament with two goals. In the final he scored the first goal of the game to later win 2-1 over the USSR ; in the semi-finals against Hungary he had already made it 1-0 (final score 2-1 a.d.). In total, Pereda played 15 international matches for Spain between 1960 and 1968, in which he scored six goals. He also played twice for the Catalan football team.

After his playing career, Pereda coached Spanish youth national teams from 1975 to 1993. He also coached Deportivo Xerez from 1995 to 1996 and the selection of Castile and León in 1998.
