Colin Fraser (born January 28, 1985 in Sicamous , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current scout , who played 298 games for the Chicago Blackhawks , Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings in the course of his active career between 2001 and 2015 of the National Hockey League on the position of the center . Fraser won the Stanley Cup twice - in 2010 with the Chicago Blackhawks and in 2012 with the Los Angeles Kings.
Career
Colin Fraser began his career as an ice hockey player with the Red Deer Rebels from the Western Hockey League , for which he played from 2001 to 2005 in the Canadian Junior League. During the 2003 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the third round as the 69th player of the Philadelphia Flyers .
On February 19, 2004, the Canadian was given together with Jim Vandermeer and a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in exchange for Alexei Schamnow and a four-round vote in the Entry Draft of the same year to the Chicago Blackhawks . By the end of the 2004/05 season he came on three missions in the regular season and six more in the playoffs for the Norfolk Admirals , the then Chicago farm team from the American Hockey League (AHL). For the next two years, Fraser played almost exclusively for the Admirals. During the 2006-07 season , Fraser made his debut in the National Hockey League . However, it remained his only use in the NHL this season.
In the 2007/08 season , Fraser completed 75 games for Chicago's new farm team from the AHL, the Rockford IceHogs . After that season with the IceDogs, Fraser was analyzed as a passionate worker with a manageable scoring risk and a medium probability of an NHL career was predicted. In the 2009/10 season he won the Stanley Cup with Chicago for the first time in his career . In June 2010, he was given in an exchange deal for a six- round right to vote for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft to the Edmonton Oilers .
On June 26, 2011, the Edmonton Oilers transferred him together with a seven-round suffrage in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Ryan Smyth to the Los Angeles Kings . This trade was based in particular on the initiative of Smyth, who wanted to play in his Canadian homeland again for personal reasons. Smyth had played a convincing 2010/11 season with the Kings with 47 points (23 goals, 24 assists) , which increased the pressure on Fraser, especially since he was unable to complete all preparation with his new club due to a broken foot in March 2011 . But Fraser came to 85 appearances for the Kings in the 2011/12 season and was able to win the Stanley Cup again with the team this season .
In the 2013/14 season , Fraser played most of the time with the AHL team of the Kings, the Manchester Monarchs , so he was not immortalized when he won the championship cup again and did not receive a new contract. As a free agent , he was signed for the 2014/15 season by the St. Louis Blues , where he (apart from an NHL assignment) was used for their AHL team, the Chicago Wolves . For the 2015/16 season he decided to move to Europe and signed a one-year contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the German ice hockey league .
In November 2015, Fraser retired from his career due to personal reasons.
