The Communauté urbaine d'Alençon is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté urbaine in the Orne department of the Normandy region and in the Sarthe department of the Pays de la Loire region . It was founded on December 31, 1996 and currently comprises 31 communities. The administrative headquarters are in the city of Alençon . The specialty lies in the cross-departmental and regional structure of the member communities.

Historical development

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Livaie , Fontenai-les-Louvets , Longuenoë and Saint-Didier-sous-Écouves became part of the Commune nouvelle L'Orée-d'Écouves . This reduced the number of member churches to 31.
