Lalacelle is part of the Alençon arrondissement and the Damigny canton (until 2015: Alençon-1 canton ). The municipality is part of the communauté urbaine d'Alençon . The inhabitants are called Lacellois .

Lalacelle is located about 21 kilometers east-northeast of Alençon on the Mayenne River , which has its source here. The parish is located in the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park . Lalacelle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ciral in the north, Gandelain in the east, Champfrémont in the south and south-east, Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson with Pré-en-Pail in the west and south-west and Saint-Samson in the west and north-west.
The National Route 12 runs through the municipality .
