Héloup (also: Hesloup ) is a French municipality with 917 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy . Héloup belongs to the Arrondissement of Alençon and the canton of Damigny (until 2015: Canton Alençon-1 ). The municipality is part of the communauté urbaine d'Alençon . The inhabitants are called Hélouins .

geography

Héloup is located about five kilometers southwest of the city center of Alençon on the Sarthe River , which borders the municipality to the north and west. It belongs to the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park . Héloup is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Condé-sur-Sarthe in the north, Saint-Germain-du-Corbéis in the northeast, Arçonnay in the east, Bérus in the south and southeast, Gesnes-le-Gandelin in the south, Moulins-le-Carbonnel in the southwest as well Mieuxcé in the west.

The A12 autoroute runs through the municipality .
