Compton (also Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre ) is the third studio album by the American rapper and music producer Dr. Dre . It was released on August 7, 2015 via the labels Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records . For the time being, the album was only released in digital form via Apple Music and iTunes . The CD version was released on August 21, 2015.
background
Dr. Dr's third studio album, entitled Detox, was announced, but its release has been postponed for various reasons. On August 1, 2015, Dr. Dre finally announced that he would not publish Detox because it simply did not completely convince him. Instead, he announced his final third studio album Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre on. The album was inspired by the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton , which was also released in 2015, and it has been described as its "grand finale".

Dr. Dre acted as executive producer on the album . In addition, the songs were the music producers Dem Jointz, DJ Dahi, Focus ..., DJ Premier , DJ Khalil , Bink !, Best Kept Secret, Cardiak, Trevor Lawrenc Jr., Winslow, Free School, DRUGS Beats, Theron Feemster, Curt Chambers, DJ Silk, Choc and BMB Spacekid involved.

The album cover shows a view over the city of Compton from a hill on which the lettering Compton made of white letters is mounted. At the bottom of the picture is the lettering A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre in white.
Guest Posts
As on the other two studio albums by Dr. Dre, a number of other artists can also be heard on Compton . Thus, to his label are Aftermath Entertainment under contract rapper Eminem , Kendrick Lamar , Jon Connor and Justus represented with guest appearances. Even the one developed by Dr. Dre discovered rapper Snoop Dogg supported him on several songs. Other guest contributions were made by the musicians Anderson .Paak , King Mez, Marsha Ambrosius , Candice Pillay, BJ the Chicago Kid , Xzibit , Cold 187um , Ice Cube , The Game , Sly Pyper, Dem Jointz, Asia Bryant and Jill Scott . On the songs One Shot One Kill and Just Another Day , Dr. Dre himself not to be heard.

The album entered the German charts at number 4 and stayed in the top 100 for six weeks. It also reached # 1 on the UK charts and # 2 on the US charts.
The album received a gold record in the United States for more than 500,000 copies sold .
At the 2016 Echo Awards , Dr. Dre awarded for Compton in the category "Artist / Group Hip Hop / Urban (international)". Moreover, it was Compton at the Grammy Awards 2016 in the category Best Rap Album nominated, but lost To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar .

The album received mostly positive reviews. The side Metacritic calculated from 36 reviews of English-language media is a section of 82%.
At laut.de the album received four out of a possible five points, with the guest contributions being particularly praised. Oliver Marquart from the online portal Rap.de criticized that the songs were slow to pick up speed and that Dr. Dres Rap is sometimes overambitious. Spiegel Online described the album as "both a return and a star-studded performance show" that had "some of the strongest tracks Dre ever produced". The Internet portal of the Süddeutsche Zeitung described Compton as " cinematic ". Dr. Dre manages to "combine zeitgeist and nostalgia."
Kristina Scheuner from MZEE.com especially praised the title "All In A Day's Work" with Anderson .Paak, in which "in general all parts are a harmonious interplay between the two Californians, which could not have been implemented better."
