The Costa Deliziosa is a cruise ship operated by the Italian shipping company Costa Crociere .

history

Construction and commissioning

The ship was built under construction number 6164 at Fincantieri in Marghera. On January 12, 2009 the ship was undocked. The ship was delivered on January 27, 2010 and sailed under the Italian flag with its home port of Genoa . On February 23, 2010 the ship was christened in Dubai.

Areas of application

On February 5, 2010 , the Costa Deliziosa launched its premiere cruise from Savona via the Suez Canal to Dubai . Until May 2010 the ship sailed from Dubai on 7-day trips in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman .

  • Summer 2010: 7-day trips from Copenhagen to southern Norway and the Baltic Sea
  • Winter 2010/11 (September - November): 10-day trips from Savona to the eastern Mediterranean
  • Winter 2010/11 (December - March): 7-day trips from Dubai in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman
  • Summer 2011, 2012: Travel from Amsterdam to Norway , Greenland and the Baltic Sea
  • Winter 2011/12: Travel from Savona to the Canary Islands and the western Mediterranean
  • Summer half-year 2013: Cruises from Savona to the western and eastern Mediterranean , some with cruises to the Canary Islands and the Black Sea.

From December 28, 2011 to April 6, 2012, the Costa Deliziosa carried out a 100-day trip around the world, heading for 37 ports. It was Costa’s first trip around the world in 50 years. The areas of application of the Costa Deliziosa are also Northern Europe in summer 2012 and the western Mediterranean and the Canary Islands in winter 2012/13. From January to April 2013 and 2014 the Costa Deliziosa again carried out a 100-day trip around the world. In 2015 she went on a 115 day trip around the world to the southern hemisphere.

Incident 2014

On May 18, 2014 there was a power outage on the Costa Deliziosa at around 6:00 p.m. in the port of Valencia . The trip was canceled and the passengers flown to the port of destination. The next cruise from Civitavecchia on May 20th could not take place as planned.

The ship

style

The main theme of the ship is design. In the atrium is a sculpture by the Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro . The decks are named after flowers only, so there are the Orchidea, Magnolia or Petunia decks. The ship was christened on February 23, 2010 during the opening of the new cruise terminal in Dubai in Port Rashid .

Furnishing

The ship has a three-story theater with the very latest stage technology from the brands Varilite, Zilz, Martin, Clay-Paky etc., a 4D cinema and a golf simulator . A radio network (WLAN) is available to passengers throughout the ship . Furthermore, like every new ship of the shipping company, the ship has a spa area called "Samsara Spa", which has a size of 3,500 m².
