The Costa Favolosa is a cruise ship operated by the Costa Crociere shipping company . It belongs to the Concordia class .
history
The ship was ordered in October 2007.
On August 6, 2010 the “technical launch ” of the Costa Favolosa was completed. In the presence of the President of Costa Crociere Gianni Onorato and the managing director of the Marghera shipyard Attilio Dapelo , a coin was shrink-wrapped by the godmother Beatrice Siri (an employee of Costa Crociere) at the point where the main mast of sailing ships was. After the blessing, the dry dock was flooded and the Costa Favolosa was then undocked.
The christening took place on July 2nd, 2011 in the port of Trieste . Afterwards, the Costa Favolosa set out on her first cruise from Venice to Dubrovnik on July 4th .
Naming
A competition was held among travel agencies and their customers to name the ship, and the 25 most common names were presented on the Costa Crociere website. 42,000 visitors to the website have chosen the name Favolosa (“The fairy tale”, Italian Favola “fairy tale”, favoloso “fairytale, fabulous”).
Cabins and on-board facilities
The Costa Favolosa has 13 guest decks with a total of 1508 cabins as well as 5 restaurants and 13 bars. The decks are named after structures and influence the respective interior design. The ship has a 6,000 square meter spa and a Grand Prix racing car simulator. Other special features are the water slide and the polo deck with retractable glass roof and cinema screen. There are several pools and whirlpools as well as a jogging course, tennis and basketball court on the open decks.
technology
The Costa Favolosa has a shore power supply system for ships for the duration of their stay in port. This means that the machines can be parked in the port, which reduces pollutant emissions.
