The Costa Fortuna is a cruise ship operated by the Costa Crociere shipping company . At the time of her completion in 2003, she was the largest cruise ship built in Italy with over 100,000 GT.

history

The ship was built at Fincantieri in Palermo and Genoa . The forecastle was built in Palermo and was launched on July 11, 2002. The aft ship was launched on November 11, 2002 in Genoa. The ship was delivered on October 31, 2003 and sailed under the Italian flag with its home port of Genoa, sponsored by the Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta .

Incidents

On April 14, 2003, a fire broke out on board the ship. At the time, the ship was at the equipment quay of the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa.

According to media reports, in May 2005 the Costa Fortuna ran aground near Sorrento or collided with a rock near the shore. The report is based on testimony from an on-board photographer that the incident was covered up. The representations were denied by Costa Crociere.

The Costa Fortuna belongs to the Destiny class . Costa Crociere operates a sister ship with the Costa Magica, which was completed a year later .

commitment

The Costa Fortuna drove like the Costa Atlantica , the Costa Victoria , the Costa Serena and since 2017, the Costa neoRomantica exclusively on the Chinese market. She is stationed in Shanghai . Various three to five-day routes to destinations in Japan and South Korea are used.

The Costa Fortuna has been sailing in the Mediterranean again since March 2019 .

Furnishing

There are 1,358 cabins on the Costa Fortuna , 27 of which are partially handicapped accessible. A total of 464 cabins are equipped with private balconies. The ship also has 58 suites . The Costa Fortuna has a total of 17 decks, 13 of which are accessible to guests. The ship's own theater extends over three decks, and in addition to many other entertainment options, there is also a Turkish steam bath . The ship is also equipped with:

• Shop gallery with drugstore, jeweler , boutique , duty-free shop, photo studio , travel agency ,
• Casino and discotheque , Internet café , shopping center,
• four restaurants , including the Club Conte Grande 1927 restaurant, the a la carte service restaurant with advance booking, eleven bars, including cognac & cigar,
• four swimming pools , one of which has a retractable roof, six whirlpools and a large water slide. Sports field, outdoor jogging course, fitness center with various rooms for treatments, sauna , Turkish steam bath ,
• Laundry , ironing service ,
• Printing (the latest news daily through the on-board newspaper).
