Career
Daisuke Obara began ice hockey in second grade at Ashino Elementary School in Kushiro and then moved to Keiun Middle School in another school district because of their strong ice hockey team. He then attended the high school in Tomakomai , which is more than 200 km away and is more than 200 km away from Komazawa University , which has regularly won the national high school championships since the 1970s.
In the 2002/03 season, the striker played for the Waseda University team . He then moved to North America, where he was on the ice for various teams in the East Coast Hockey League in the following season . In 2004 he moved to the Asia League Ice Hockey, founded a year earlier, for the Kokudo Ice Hockey Club, whose professional team has been called Seibu Prince Rabbits since a merger in 2006 . With Kokudo he won the Asia League in 2005 and 2006 . In 2007 and 2009 he reached the play-off finals with the Seibu Prince Rabbits, which were lost. For this he won the Japanese championship title with the Rabbits in 2008 and 2009 . After the team from Nishitōkyō was disbanded in 2009 for financial reasons, he switched to Nippon Paper Cranes from his hometown Kushiro, with whom he won the Japanese national championship title in 2010 and 2011 and the Asia League in 2014. After this success he was drawn to the Ōji Eagles , for whom he has been on the ice ever since.

At the Winter Asian Games 2007 in Changchun , he and his team won the title with a 3-2 win in the decisive game against Kazakhstan . He also took part in both qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . After the Japanese won the first qualifying round in Sanok , Poland , they had to recognize the superiority of the Germans and the Austrians in the second round in Hanover and only finished third ahead of Slovenia.
