The lost labyrinth (original title: Labyrinth ) is a two-part television film from 2012. It is based on the novel of the same name by Kate Mosse . The adaptation was produced by Tandem Communications , Scott Free and Sat.1 .
action
2012: The young teacher Alice Tanner finds a cave during archaeological excavations near Carcassonne . In it she finds wall paintings of a labyrinth, two skeletons and an old ring. When Alice puts the ring on, she has strange visions with which she can initially not do anything. But she quickly realizes that she is connected to 17-year-old Alaïs Pelletier from the 13th century.
Alaïs lives in Carcassonne, which is besieged during the Albigensian Crusade in 1209 , because the city is home to many Cathars who were considered heretics by the Catholic Church. In this situation, Alaïs learns from her father that he is one of the keepers of three books that, in conjunction with a ring, protect the Holy Grail in a labyrinth. Alaïs' half-sister Oriane wants to own the Grail and takes two of the books into her possession.
Alice discovers that her fellow excavator Shelagh is a member of a secret society looking for the Grail. Its leader, Marie-Cecile, kidnaps her friend Will and takes him to the cave. It turns out that Alice is a descendant of Alaïs.
The crusaders have conquered Carcassonne, but the pregnant Alaïs escapes with the last book and a friend. After a few years they live with Alaïs' daughter Bertrande, but the crusaders find them again. They flee to the cave where Oriane is waiting for them.
In the showdown, attempts are made to keep the secret of the Grail in both time levels.

reception
criticism
“As with the Follett films, the appeal of the two-part 'The Lost Labyrinth' lies in the authentic-looking reconstruction of medieval conditions and grievances; a bit of eroticism, sinister conspiracies, assassinations and various bloody battle pictures included. The great strength of this adventurous TV fairy is the image composition (camera: Robert Humphreys). The light in the interior shots is reminiscent of old master paintings. But there are weaknesses in the actors & the aesthetics seem interchangeable. For fans! "
