The district of Dhenkanal ( Oriya ଢେଙ୍କାନାଳ ଜିଲ୍ଲା Ḍhēṅkānāḷa Jillā ) is located in the Indian state of Odisha . The administrative seat is the eponymous city of Dhenkanal .
location
The district extends over an area of 4452 km² on the central reaches of the Brahmani River on the edge of the Eastern Ghats .
Residents
In the 2011 census, the population was 1,192,811. The gender ratio was 947 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 78.76% (86.18% for men, 71% for women).
