The Ferienbande is a parody of well-known youth radio series such as The Three Question Marks , Five Friends and above all TKKG .
Emergence
The Ferienbande is produced by the Frankfurt comedy duo Kai + Sven . Initially, Die Ferienbande was conceived as a pure radio comedy series and has been running as such on the Hessian youth channel You FM since 2003 . In December 2003 the Ferienbande's first long radio play, “Die Ferienbande und die horrible Holidays”, was released on CD on the WortArt label . The concept of the CD series includes the participation of well-known guest speakers from radio plays and comedy.
When the second CD was released in March 2005, the makers brought a live radio play reading by the holiday gang onto the stage for the first time. With three speakers, a narrator and live noise maker, the holiday gang went on a small tour of Germany.
With the new stage show entitled “The holiday gang and the really creepy nasty heavy riddle”, the holiday gang was on the move all over Germany from 2006 to 2009. The show was presented by “Intro” magazine and well-known guest speakers from radio plays and comedy were on stage at some shows, including Oliver Rohrbeck , Hennes Bender and Johann König . A live recording of the show was also released on CD in June 2009.
In 2011, “The big, adventurous and also mysterious holiday gang box” was published as a digipak with the first six episodes . In the same year the Ferienbande went on tour in Germany with the stage show "The Ferienbande chasing the damn dirty Schrat". A live recording of this show was released on CD in September 2013. In 2015, the next tour, “Die Ferienbande breaks in See”, was announced and some premieres were played in the autumn of the same year. In the same year the next case “The holiday gang and the blatant avenger” appeared on CD, which was continued in 2017 as a three-part series. The guest speakers include the entire TKKG gang, which also appears as such in the radio play. The recordings took place in the radio play studio XBerg in the Lauscherlounge and in the Studio Körting from EUROPA .
Also in 2015, Sven Buchholz and Kai Schwind founded the “AudioProduktionsKollektiv” label for radio play publications and live events.
In 2017 the Ferienbande was on a Germany-wide tour with the current program “Die Ferienbande breaks in See!”. A live recording from the Gloria Theater in Cologne was released in spring 2018.
On the occasion of the new tour originally planned for autumn 2020, a collection box with all previously published episodes was published at the end of August 2020 under the title "The unbelievably ultimate holiday gang anthology - all radio plays from the first 16 years" on 15 CDs. There is also a CD with the radio episodes that will appear on CD for the first time. The tour with the new program "Meltdown in the cursed horror hotel" was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany .
The main characters
The main characters of the series are sports cannon Bernd, formerly called Beate (spoken by Sven Buchholz ), the audible Saxon speaking "Baul" (spoken by Kai Schwind ), wolverine Billy, called Bröckchen (also spoken by Sven Buchholz), the ever-sharp Babsi (spoken by Chris Peters ) and her monotonously barking mutt Bambi, who dies in most of the episodes, but is back in the next.
