Digimon Adventure tri. ( jap. デ ジ モ ン ア ド ベ ン チ ャ ー tri. , Dejimon Adobenchā tri. ) is an anime film series released in Japan from 2015 to 2018 and produced by Tōei Animation . It is the seventh anime season of Akiyoshi Hongō's Digimon franchises, which continues the series Digimon and Digimon 02 , which appeared in 1999 and 2000, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Digimon franchise. Digimon Adventure tri. has been conceived as a six-part film series. The first film Saikai ( 再 会 , "Goodbye") opened on November 21, 2015 in Japanese cinemas.

action

The plot of Digimon Adventure tri. begins six years after the events in Digimon and three years after the events in Digimon 02 . The world has changed and Tai and his friends have gotten older. They go to high school together - like normal teenagers. Nevertheless, Tai and his friends are hiding a secret: They are digi knights who ventured into the digital world some time ago and established a connection with digital monsters there. Now the youngsters and their partners, the Digimon, have to return to the fantastic parallel world and protect it from evil.

synchronization

The roles of the eight Digiritter were reassigned due to the time jump in the franchise in the Japanese original, while the speakers for the Digimon were taken over from the first series. In the German version, all voice actors from the original series have been taken over, except for the speaker for the character Izzy. The German synchronization was commissioned by Tōei Animation and created by the Berlin synchronization company RRP Media GmbH, the successor company to MME Studios GmbH, which was responsible for the synchronization of the previous series.

publication

The first film Saikai ( 再 会 , "Bye-bye") was released on November 21, 2015 in ten Japanese cinemas. The screenings of the film, which was originally limited to three weeks, continued due to demand, so that the film grossed 229 million yen (€ 1.8 million) in the ten cinemas by the beginning of January 2016. Due to the earlier time zone of the film has already been released on 20 November 2015, the United States , Canada , South Africa , Australia , New Zealand and Latin America in the original version with English, Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish subtitles in the form of four individual episodes on Crunchyroll . On November 22, 2015, the film was also broadcast in the original sound with German subtitles in prime time on the German pay TV channel Animax Deutschland . The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on December 18, 2015.

With the screening of the first film, the start of the second ketsui ( 決意 , “decision”) for March 12, 2016 was announced. The second film was also shown just one day after the Japanese theatrical release by Animax Germany with the title Chapter 2: Decision in the original language with German subtitles. There were no more OmU premieres on Animax.

At AnimagiC 2016 it was announced that the first three films in 2017 will be shown in a German dubbed version distributed by KSM Anime in the cinema and will also be released a little later on DVD and Blu-ray.

The first film was shown on May 21, 2017 in over 150 German and Austrian cinemas and was seen by around 10,600 visitors in Germany and 1,500 in Austria. Two days later, KSM announced a limited and a regular DVD and Blu-ray version of the film. The limited version includes a FuturePak and a small cardboard stand (called Digimin ) and is always released two weeks earlier than the normal version, exclusively from the partner online shop Anime Planet. This publishing method is retained for all films. The second film was released on July 2, 2017 and, with 8,400 German visitors, made it to number 24 in the German cinema charts for calendar week 26. The third film was released on August 13, 2017, and reached around 7,600 visitors in Germany and 21st place in the German cinema charts in calendar week 32. Before the third film was released, KSM announced that they had received the rights for films 4 and 5 and that they would be released in 2018. The fourth film was shown in German for the first time in German and Austrian cinemas on March 11, 2018. The film ran in 137 cinemas, was seen by 7,747 visitors and made it to number 14 on the cinema charts. The fifth film was shown in 130 cinemas on October 7, 2018 and was viewed by 6150 visitors, bringing it to 18th place. The film brought in almost 80,000 euros. The final film was shown on March 10, 2019, and 6,290 tickets were sold in 151 cinemas in Germany.

After the home video release of the first three films, KSM Anime faced increased criticism from some fans. The reason for this were various content-related errors in the German synchronization. KSM then turned to the fans and explained to them that they did not produce the synchronization of the first three films themselves, but had already bought the finished synchronization from the licensor Toei. However, an agreement has now been reached with the licensor for the fourth and fifth films so that KSM can look over the German dialogue books and react accordingly in good time. In the period from September 24, 2019 to October 8, 2019, the TV broadcaster Prosieben Maxx showed the first three films as free TV premieres.
